Halloween Readathon + Giveaway

Hey everyone! I'm finally back from my trip to Miami. Can I just say that it was BANANAS!!! Anywho, before I left I signed up for the Halloween Read-A-Thon hosted by Lesley @ Young Adult Books Reviewed.
This weekend I will be reading all scary/creepy books nonstop. I'm curious to see how many I can actually knock down. Here are my picks:

~She Smells the Dead by E.J. Stevens (already started so I'll continue from page 103)
~The Dead Girls' Dance (I loved the first one so I'm excited to finally get back into this series)
~The Twin's Daughter by Lauren Baratz-Logsted
~Branded (Fall of Angels) by Keary Taylor (already started so I'll continue from page 133)
~Low Red Moon by Ivy Devlin

There's still time to signup and you can start anytime (obviously because I'm late). Go HERE

I'm really hoping I can get through at least most of these being that I missed a day. I've also signed up to host a mini challenge in celebration of the read-a-thon. Now on to the giveaway!

I will be giving away this fabulous pair of Skull earrings being sold by Grigiodesign. This contest will end by tonight at 10/18 @ 12am. It is only open to US residents. You don't have to be a participant of the read-a-thon to enter but it would be nice. The challenge:

What's the scariest YA book you've ever read?

Leave me a comment with your answer email address. Good Luck!

  1. The scariest YA book that I have ever read would have to be The Devouring by Simon Holt. It was a great book but not a good one to read at night.

Thanks for the giveaway. Those earrings are super cute!

  2. I wish there were more scary YA books to be honest, but I would have to say the scariest one I have read is the Forest of Hands and Teeth. There were definitely some edge of your seat moments in that one.
I've heard The Reapers Are the Angels is pretty creepy, just picked that one up so we shall see =)
Can't wait to read the other answers cause I would love to get some scary YA!

  4. Hmmm..the scariest YA would probably be Carrie Ryan's two zombie books including "The Forest of Hands and Teeth" ...I have to admit I have yet to be "scared" by any book, YA or otherwise. However I have got some good suggestions from the Read-a-thon!

  10. For scary YA books, not including adult, I would say Peeps. It wasn't all that scary, but the science part of it gives you the creeps.

  13. When I was younger the book that I thought was the creepiest was In The Forests of the Night by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. As I went back and read it as an older teenager. I realized that it wasnt as scary as I thought :D

  14. Hmmm, the scariest YA I've ever read was probably The Last Dog on Earth. I haven't read it for a long time, but I remember being pretty freaked out about it, and upset because I've got dogs so I took some of it pretty personally. I'm not sure if I'd find it scary now though. lol

    Thanks for the giveaway :)

  15. I blogged about this too, but I have to say the scariest book I've ever read is The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting. It's partially told from a serial killer's point of view! Yeah, definitely scary reading home alone at night. :)

  16. Definitely Sleepless by Thomas Fahy. I have horrible nightmares most every night, so this book really played into my reality. It is gruesome and bloody and full of mayhem. You should read it!

And, I LOVE those earrings! Thanks for the giveaway.

  20. I haven't read a lot of scary YA, most of the scary stuff I read is adult. While its not traditional scary, though, I'd have to chose Another Faust by Daniel & Dina Nayeri. The things that their caretaker gets them to do, and even the way that the story ends, are definitely creepy.
