Forgive My Fins by Tera Lynn Childs

Publication Date: June 1, 2010

ARC Source: Traveling ARC Tours

Summary:

Lily Sanderson has a secret, and it’s not that she has a huge crush on gorgeous swimming god Brody Bennett, who makes her heart beat flipper-fast. Unrequited love is hard enough when you’re a normal teenage girl, but when you’re half human, half mermaid like Lily, there’s no such thing as a simple crush.

Lily’s mermaid identity is a secret that can’t get out, since she’s not just any mermaid – she’s a Thalassinian princess. When Lily found out three years ago that her mother was actually a human, she finally realized why she didn’t feel quite at home in Thalassinia, and she’s been living on land and going to Seaview high school ever since, hoping to find where she truly belongs. Sure, land has its problems – like her obnoxious, biker boy neighbor Quince Fletcher – but it has that one major perk – Brody. The problem is, mermaids aren’t really the casual dating type – when they “bond,” it’s for life.

When Lily’s attempt to win Brody’s love leads to a tsunami-sized case of mistaken identity, she is in for a tidal wave of relationship drama, and she finds out, quick as a tailfin flick, that happily-ever-after never sails quite as smoothly as you planned.

My Two Cents:

Lily has been in love with Brody for as long as she can remember, only he has no idea. When she finally wakes up one morning and decides to do something about it, her enemy Quince surprisingly decides to help her.....and that's when things get pretty interesting lol.

Wow...this was such a cute book! I loved every little thing about it. First off, the cover is just fantastic. I swear I just kept reading and then flipping back just to stare at it. Awesome character developement, to where I really felt like I KNEW this characters. I must say that my favorite character was Quince. Such a hard exterior but yet so caring and thoughtful inside. Lily drove me absolutely nuts, but in a good way. We saw what Lily's life on land was like and then the author took us on a trip straight to Thalassinia. The detailed descriptions of everything made me feel like I was really there!

The sexual tension between her and Quince was just so thick throughout the whole book I felt like I was intruding just to read about those moments lol! Why is it that we're always searching for something that appears to be right in front of our faces. The question is will it be too late to realize it? Awesome book if you're looking for something light and fun to read on your summer vacation.

So please follow me @givemesexybooks!! Also, leave a comment with your "twitter name" and I'll follow you also. I have no idea what I'm doing so any pointers would also be helpful lol. Thanks guys!

So basically I must sneak and blog at work when I can. I'm buying a new one in the next couple of weeks so please bare with me until then because I've got big plans :) I've been doing a lot of reading so there's a lot of reviews coming up. Summary:

Looking for a new beginning after a terrible mean girl past, Charlie Healey realizes there’s no escaping high school drama.

Charlie Healey thinks Harmony Falls is the beginning of a whole new life. Middle school was brutal. But high school is Charlie’s big chance to start over and stay out of drama, except that on her first day she runs into Will, her ex–best friend, who had moved away. Now a varsity athlete and hotter than Charlie remembered, Will hangs with the crowd running the school. But Charlie doesn’t understand their power until an innocent delivery guy falls victim to a near-deadly hazing prank.

Torn between doing what’s right and her secret feelings for Will, Charlie must decide whether to turn in her very best friend or live with the guilt of knowing what he did.

My Two Cents:

It was pretty much your typical teen book. Charlie actually thought leaving her old neighborhood jr. high and the drama along with it would make her life easier. Little does she know drama is everywhere, no matter what school you go to. In the beginning things were really looking up for her. She started to get new friends and started her own column in the school newspaper. Unfortunately the past has a way of catching up to us. She comes face to face with her ex-friends; some gladly welcomed and others not.

There's a little bit of everything in this book as far as teen dramas go. Romance, frenemies, and bullies. Charlie learned that things like that are everywhere so eventually she stops running from these things and stands up for herself. She refuses to be pushed around any longer. Soon the time comes for her to decide between what's right and wrong even when sometimes doing what's right can hurt friendships. This book is what I call "warm and fuzzy" lol. It's not dark, and no it doesn't make your pulse quicken, but it does make you get that warm and fuzzy feeling inside when you read it because it's what you hope for and expect.
