Unearthly by Cynthia Hand

 Publication Date: January 4, 2011
Summary from Goodreads:

In the beginning, there's a boy standing in the trees . . . .

Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn't easy.
Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side.
As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?

My Two Cents:

Wowwww. How many different languages can I say I loved this book in??? ummm well I only know English so there. Okay first let me calm down and take it one step at a time.

The Characters-I love ALL of them. Clara because even though she's part angel and that supposedly makes her perfect in everything she does, she's not. Surprise! Her character will appeal to many teens because she's so honest about her faults. She's not always graceful and almost a bit clumsy. She has crushes and rivalries just like every other girl. Her mom is a bit mysterious but in the end when I see why, I can definitely respect it. Clara's two friends Angela and Wendy are so different but they each add something to the story and help Clara in sticky situations.

Clara keeps seeing bits and pieces of her purpose on earth which involve a guy she only sees from behind for the longest. The family packs up everything to move to where this mysterious boy lives to be closer to fulfilling it. Turns out it's Christian and he makes Clara's heart flutter with one look. During the day she's spending her time trying to get closer to Christian to find clues about her purpose and at night she's learning to fly with her angel wings.

What she didn't count on was meeting Tucker, who's the exact opposite of Christian. Even though Tucker wore cowboy boots and probably looked like something out of the Wild Wild West he still made me smile at his charisma. By the end of this book your head will probably be spinning from so many twists and turns. The romance factor in this book is perfect. Great timing and not rushed.

This is such a different take on an "angel" book. This turns regular old angels into pretty much human beings that have real lives. It's almost like a secret society. But there's rules to this and not everyone is a good angel. One thing I've learned here is that a lot of times we think we have a map of our future but sometimes things have a way of changing at the drop of a dime.
